Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10/01/2026

I (Richa) deeply care about you and your privacy. I am wary of your personal information and your interactions with me on and off the blog. Your privacy is really important to me, and I always keep it in mind whenever the question of privacy and securing that information comes up. Below outlines what is received and logged when you visit www.veganricha.com and how it is used. The blog uses https so that your data on the wire is secured. If you have any questions about the policy below, feel free to contact me at [email protected].

I update this page from time to time, with the modified date at the bottom, including any updates from our plugins and partners. You should check this page to make sure you are up to date with the latest policy.

What information we collect

Information you give us directly:

  • Comments – when you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and website you enter in the comment form.
  • Email newsletter – if you subscribe, we collect your name and email address through our email provider, Kit (formerly ConvertKit).
  • Contact forms – if you write to us through a form on the site, we collect the name, email address, and message you submit.
  • Recipe ratings and submissions – if you rate a recipe or submit one, we collect the rating and any name/email you enter in the form.

Information collected automatically:

  • Our server log files record visits to the site, including IP addresses. This cannot identify you directly on its own.
  • We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to remember preferences, understand traffic patterns, and serve advertising. See “Cookies” below.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to operate and improve the blog, understand which recipes readers love, respond to your messages, send the newsletter you signed up for, prevent spam and abuse, analyze traffic, and serve advertising that keeps the site free.

Cookies

  • Comment cookies – if you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies so you don’t have to re-enter them next time. These last for one year.
  • Login cookies – if you have an account and log in, we set a temporary cookie to check your browser accepts cookies (discarded when you close your browser), plus cookies to save your login and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days (two weeks if you select “Remember Me”); screen options cookies last one year. Logging out removes the login cookies.
  • Recipe rating cookie – when ratings are enabled, a cookie records that you voted on a recipe to prevent rating spam. It lasts 30 days.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies – Google Analytics and our advertising partners set cookies to measure traffic and serve personalized ads.

You can manage non-essential cookies through the consent/privacy settings tool linked in our site footer, and through your browser settings (accept, reject, or delete cookies). Note that blocking cookies may affect how the site works for you.

Advertising

CMI Marketing, Inc., d/b/a Raptive (“Raptive”) is a service provider of this Site for the purposes of placing advertising on the Site, and Raptive will collect and use certain data for advertising purposes. To learn more about Raptive’s data usage, click here: https://raptive.com/creator-advertising-privacy-statement

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), loaded via Google Tag Manager, to understand our visitors – for example, which recipes are popular and where in the world readers are visiting from. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to report on interactions with the site. You can learn how Google uses data from partner sites at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and opt out via https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Email newsletter

Our newsletter is powered by Kit (formerly ConvertKit). When you subscribe, we store your name and email address to send you new recipes and blog updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time – or just email [email protected] and ask to be removed. We never share your email address with third parties for their own marketing.

Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form, plus the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. Comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible publicly alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract location data from images on the website.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles – including YouTube videos). Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website directly. Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracing your interaction if you have an account and are logged in there.

Affiliate links and links to other websites

Some posts contain affiliate links, including to Amazon. If you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Once you follow a link and leave our site, we have no control over the other website – please review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Spam protection

Forms on this site are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which helps us tell humans apart from bots. It may collect device and browser information to perform this check, per Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Your rights – California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and share about you;
  • Delete personal information we hold about you, with certain legal exceptions;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money. Like most ad-supported websites, we do share identifiers such as cookie IDs, IP addresses, and device information with our advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising, which California law treats as a sale/sharing. You can opt out at any time through the consent/privacy settings tool in our site footer, or by emailing [email protected];
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. We will verify your request and respond as required by law.

Your rights – EEA and UK residents (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or receive a portable copy of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.

How long we retain your data

  • Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
  • Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Contact form submissions are kept as long as needed to respond and for our records.
  • Server logs and analytics data are retained for a limited period for security and statistical purposes.
  • Registered users’ profile information is stored as described in their account; users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except their username), and site administrators can also see and edit it.

Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards – including https encryption in transit – to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International data transfers

This site and its servers are hosted in the United States. If you visit from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, and by using the site you consent to that transfer.
